Contract at leading OEM as a Base Component Development Engineer. Background in Rotating Systems, Valvetrain, Castings, Lubrication, Breather and Cooling systems, bolted joint and sealing experience from industrial engines in diesel or alternative fuel operation.
The client seeks a Development Engineer to join the Component Engineering Base Engine Team. Focused on design solutions addressing challenging requirements, from projects within New Product Introduction, New Technology or updates to existing platforms for a variety of own and 3rd Party applications. You are an experienced contributor on assignments, complex in nature, working with individuals and teams across global Manufacturing sites, suppliers and customers.
What You Will Do:
- As a Development Engineer in the team, you will be expected to have relevant development experience, knowledge of IC engines and be able to lead, plan and execute challenging tasks and projects.
- Execution of Core Engine System validation activities.
- New product development technical issue resolution.
- Conducting FMEA on components and systems to identify and address design risks and determine validation needs.
- Plan and execute validation tests.
- Conducting component and system design reviews.
- Keeping peers, team leader and management up to date with progress against planned activities.
- Support resolution to production, test and field issues, diagnose issues to root cause, put in place containment actions, and develop permanent corrective actions.
- Work with suppliers and keep stakeholders informed of progress and decisions.
What You Have:
- Knowledge of industrial engines in diesel or alternative fuel operation.
- Technical background (HNC or technical degree preferred in mechanical or automotive engineering) though other qualifications or experience are equally valued.
- Knowledge in a minimum of one or more of the following Core Engine systems: Rotating Systems, Valvetrain, Castings, Lubrication, Breather and Cooling systems, bolted joint and sealing experience.
- Minimum 3yrs relevant development experience.
- Good understanding of Manufacturing principles & processes.
- Development experience of mechanical components and systems, including both rig and complete system testing.
- Self-motivation and an ability to manage and deliver tasks to meet established commitments.
- Excellent communications skills & Teamwork.
