Role Description
Reporting directly to the Head of Payroll & Pensions responsible for accuracy of the payroll services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the daily operation of multiple Parasol payroll and pension processes.
- Responsible for ensuring all payrolls are accurate and executed within agreed service levels.
- Responsible for the accurate processing of pension contributions.
- Ownership of implementing, maintaining and auditing controls to ensure transactions are accurately recorded and errors are mitigated in the payroll function including completing the monthly audits.
- Ownership of monthly reconciliations.
- Keeping up to date with technical and legislative developments in payroll or impacting payroll.
- Implement new procedures to ensure continuous improvement within the department.
- Support and coach team members with any identified training needs.
- Focus on motivational activities with the team and rest of the business.
- Lead the team using a performance development plan.
- Support all team members regarding query escalation and resolution.
- To improve service delivery for employees and finance.
- Support the Head of Payroll & Pensions with HMRC relationship and associated queries and appeals.
- Support the Head of Payroll & Pensions with tax year end tasks/project for payroll.
- Support the Head of Payroll & Pensions with project-based work relating to the wider Group that requires technical payroll input.
- Ad-Hoc duties/projects as required.
Person Specification:
Essential:
- Knowledge of Umbrella, CIS, PEO and PAYE/Payroll Bureau payroll models (significant experience in at least one of these payroll models).
- Knowledge of Payroll legislation and ability to interpret and develop as policy to inform service.
- Experience of leading a team.
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Proven ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
- Flexible and logical approach to payroll related issues and processing.
Desirable:
- CIPP qualified or Level 5 equivalent.
- Experience of change management and implementing new payroll systems.
