The Client

Our client has led the way in delivering exceptional construction projects, with values up to £11.5m. Their services include civil engineering, groundworks, FRC works, external works, and earthworks, all tailored to their clients' unique requirements. They are looking to add an experienced Estimator to their team.

The Role of Estimator

A privately owned Contractor, this organisation has exciting growth plans, and as such, are now looking for an experienced Estimator to support the pre-construction team. The Estimator will play a crucial role in supporting the continuous flow of new business through the Company. The company carries out a variety of civil engineering and construction contracts, for a broad spectrum of Clients and working as part of the Estimating Department provides exposure to all of these. You will be welcomed into an exciting environment, where no two jobs are the same.

  • Scrutinise incoming enquiries.
  • Assess all relevant technical issues.
  • Carry out site visits.
  • Prepare take-offs and materials schedules.
  • Prepare subcontract enquiries and evaluate quotations.
  • Prepare estimates and outline programmes for the costs of the works.
  • Coordinate tender submissions including health and safety, environmental and quality elements.
  • Submit proposals to clients.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions with clients prior to contract award.
  • Participate in tender handover meetings.

Skills:

  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office suite of software.
  • Experience of Conquest would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of estimating software and Microsoft Project beneficial but not essential.
  • Necessary skills to review construction drawings and perform quantity take-offs.
  • Ability to produce estimates from first principles.
  • Capability to work on multiple tenders and budgets.
  • Aptitude to work autonomously.
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A professional attitude to representing the Company.
  • Good time management and organisational skills.

What You Need

Ideally, the successful applicant will have already worked in a similar role for a civil engineering contractor, pricing works involving groundworks, FRC works, external works, heavy civils, highways and earthworks.
