The Technical Ceramics business of Morgan Advanced Materials engineers high performance functional and structural ceramic materials, components and sub-assemblies to address customer-specific technical challenges.
Responsibilities Develop, implement, and manage the quality processes, methods, and management system to ensure materials that meet or exceed our customers’ expectations based upon a broad scope of experience. Ensure that these quality processes, methods, and management system meet or exceed the requirements of our ISO 9001:2015 and AS 9100 Certifications and are consistent with established standards, customer specifications, and quality goals. Perform roles and responsibilities in accordance with direction from the Technical Lead. Coordinate, assign and lead customer complaints using 8D methodology utilizing cross functional teams as appropriate to determine root cause and corrective actions. Delegated Quality Representative (DQR) for Aerospace and other customers. Manage/participate in QCTPS Board for nonconforming materials along with analyzing data for improvements. Lead/participate in AQP activities relating to quality including specification review, processing requirements, and sampling plans. Recommends and implements improvements to manufacturing processes, methods, and controls through data trending and analysis. Lead/participate in internal, customer and 3rd party audits and process reviews to standards including ISO 9001, AS9100 AS13100 and applicable customer specifications/standards. Manage and review Supplier Standards, ensuring up to date compliance. Quickly respond to and identify customer complaints, organize the investigation of customer complaints, returns and other quality incidents, issue 8D or relevant investigation reports and handling suggestions to ensure that customers can get feedback quickly. Lead cross-functional communication, conduct root cause analysis of customer complaints, identify product quality hazards and improvement opportunities, translate customer opinions and expectations, and seek improvement methods to optimize product quality. Effectively promote the good operation of external quality information feedback mechanism, identify customer needs, maintain good communication with customers, continuously improve service quality and customer satisfaction, and reduce customer complaints. Maintain quality related data such as customer complaints and handling, customer satisfaction survey, etc., make statistics on various costs arising from customer complaints, and analyze quality data and trends in depth. Responsible for customer audit, assist in quality system certification, annual review, and internal and external audit. Train relevant front-line staff, exchange and communicate customer quality issues, improve quality awareness. Assists in training shop floor associates on quality processes and methods.
Qualifications BS. degree in Material Science or Engineering is required or relevant experience in a quality role within a manufacturing environment. Minimum 5 years related broad focused quality experience is required within a manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of quality management systems in an ISO 9001/AS 9100/AS13100 is desired. Knowledge of Kaizen and Lean/Six-Sigma Manufacturing techniques is desired. Experience with developing/documenting procedures is required. Computer proficiency.
