Source is a creative and digital agency, established for over 33 years, based in Shrewsbury. We are looking for an awesome freelance WordPress Developer to join our collaborative and creative team and work on a range of exciting brands and projects. No day or project is the same and your responsibilities will include the development of new websites, as well as ongoing support and maintenance of existing projects. You will be working alongside our directors, account managers, creative and digital teams. You will be an experienced developer and able to accurately scope out technical specifications and estimate build times.
The specific skills that we are looking for in a developer are:
- Significant experience with PHP development – you can write code that is secure, modern and easy to maintain and understand
- Significant experience with bespoke WordPress development, particularly bespoke plugins
- Significant experience working with e-commerce platforms, especially WooCommerce, and with integrating stock and payment platforms
- Experience in integrating into third-party APIs
- Good working knowledge of MySQL/MariaDB
- Experience with a11y and WCAG
- Experience with HTML, CSS (particularly Bootstrap) and JS/jQuery
- Flexibility to work with legacy content management systems with a view to providing support to clients on an ongoing basis
- Working knowledge of version control systems like Git
- Good working knowledge of DNS, and an ability to diagnose, advise and repair DNS issues
- Experience managing server environments such as WHM/cPanel, and troubleshooting hosting account issues as they arise
- Good overall IT knowledge, with a view to overseeing and recommending internal equipment purchases and advising on best practice
- Understanding of SEO principles
- Knowledge of MacOS and Adobe Creative Cloud
- Good problem-solving skills
