To instruct Norse Fitness classes in a fun, safe and effective manner. Provide an encouraging and motivating atmosphere while helping participants achieve their fitness goals. Retain participants by building relationships while providing excellent customer service.
Primary Responsibilities
- Represent the Department of Campus Recreation as a Group Fitness Instructor for the Fitness Program in a positive and responsible manner.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Develop safe and effective group exercise classes based on given format.
- Keep all certifications up to date through continuing education etc.
- Educate participants about the fitness benefits of each exercise within the class.
- Attend ALL mandatory trainings/meetings.
- Teach accident prevention and proper techniques within given format.
- Clear communication is a must.
Qualifications
- General:
- Ability to follow written and verbal directions.
- Ability to work independently without constant supervision.
- Must be friendly and customer service oriented.
- Must be punctual and professional at all times.
- Ability to teach at a variety of times.
- Ability to attend all in-service trainings and meetings.
- Must have a National Certification such as AFAA- Primary Group Fitness, ACE - Group Fitness Instructor, Zumba, etc.
- CPR/AED, and First Aid certification or the ability to obtain.
- To maintain fitness level required to be a group fitness instructor.
- Attend and perform successfully at ALL in-service meetings/trainings.
