The job role: As a Laboratory Technician you will provide support to Microscopy Area Supervisor in carrying out analytical approved test methods and reporting results to customers. You will be following the daily and weekly instrument checks, calibration procedures, quality control sample monitoring, prove method competency and preparation of approved test methods whilst:
- Identifying instrument performance issues and in consultation with management rectifying the issue, reporting non-conformities and deviating samples.
- Contributing to the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and other laboratory accreditation of the Analytical Section.
- Performing experiments at laboratory scale following a programme set by Laboratory Manager.
- Contributing to the safe operation of the team by following health and safety guidelines agreed with Laboratory Manager.
- Identifying mechanisms to improve performance by reporting of unsafe conditions and health and safety related incidents.
- Following approved guidelines on the safe use and storage of chemicals.
- Managing your own workload and collaborating with co-workers and Microscopy Laboratory Manager in maintaining steady turnaround times for requested work.
- Contributing to the documentation of new analytical test methods.

What we ask in return? As a Lab Technician you should manage your own workload and collaborate with co-workers and Microscopy Laboratory Manager. You will ideally have Lab/ Microscopy experience and the following:
- 5 GCSEs Grade C or above, NVQ level 3 or A level in relevant subject, or equivalent.
- Must be able to work within a laboratory environment, including the safe use of laboratory equipment and chemicals Knowledge.
- Basic spreadsheet and word document skills (MS Office and/or Google Docs/Sheets).
- Attention to Detail
- Use of Lims.
