RF & Wi-FI Planning & Optimisation Engineer (UK-Based Remote, Outside IR35)

RF & Wi-Fi Planning & Optimisation Engineer is required by a leading technology consultancy to assist in the delivery of an RF and Wi-Fi project at a leading financial services organisation. The role requires experience of:Network Design & Planning: Develop comprehensive RF & Wi-FI network plans to achieve optimal coverage, capacity, and quality across utilsing various wireless technologies across a global enterprise/campus environmentUtilise RF planning tools like Atoll, Planet, and NetAct for site selection, frequency planning, and interference analysisUtilise tools like Ekahau AI Pro, NetSpot, AirMagnet Planner, and Acrylic WiFi Heatmaps for Wi-FI planningCoverage & Capacity Analysis: Perform detailed RF propagation modeling and prediction for system planning. Analyze and interpret RF data to create actionable insights for network optimizationSite Surveys & Audits: Conduct site surveys to assess and enhance network performance. Perform TSSR surveys and audits to ensure compliance with design specificationsOptimization & Troubleshooting: Monitor network performance, identify issues such as low coverage areas or high interference, and implement solutions to enhance user experience and network efficiencyRegulatory Compliance: Ensure network plans comply with local and international regulations and standards. Prepare and submit necessary documentation to regulatory authoritiesDocumentation & Reporting: Prepare detailed technical documentation and reports outlining RF planning strategies, designs, and optimization recommendations. Generate RF engineering-related reports as requiredQualifications & SkillsEducational Background: Bachelor\’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field. A Master\’s degree in RF Engineering or related specialization is preferred.Experience: Typically 5–10 years of experience in RF planning and optimization. Experience with mobile network operators, equipment vendors, or consulting firms is advantageous.Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of wireless network design principles and toolsProficiency in RF planning software such as Atoll, Planet, or iBwaveProficiency in Wi-Fi planning using tools such as Ekahau AI Pro, NetSpot, AirMagnet Planner, and Acrylic WiFi HeatmapsFamiliarity with 2G/3G/4G/5G/Wi-Fi network technologies and protocolsAnalytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to analyze and interpret RF data for network optimizationCommunication Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and present technical findings to stakeholdersCertifications: Industry certifications such as Certified RF Engineer (CRFE), RF Engineering Certification, or Wireless Communications Engineering Technologies (WCET) are advantageousThis is a 6 month outside IR35 contract with scope to renew for c.24 months. Only applicants from within the UK (or with the ability to work in the UK) will be considered.
