We are seeking a site based Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead the day-to-day commercial duties on a £20m scheme in Dorset. The works consist of the construction of a new flood defence wall, with various types of piling and associated works. The suitable candidate will have extensive experience within the marine sector, along with a detailed working knowledge of the NEC (preferable option C). They will have an eye for detail and an analytical approach to record keeping.
JOB PURPOSE & CONTRIBUTION TO THE ORGANISATION
Deliver sustainable, profitable growth by minimising risks, maximising opportunities and avoiding disputes across projects. Manage both commercial and contractual aspects of a project(s), supporting the project team to deliver the project successfully. Mentor and line manage graduate and trainee commercial staff as required within your division to support their development.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Provide information to assist in developing the divisional budget as required.
- Take responsibility to deliver forecasted profits and margins.
- Produce accurate, consistent and detailed project forecasting (CFS and CVR’s) in accordance with KB guidance notes and policies, considering risk and opportunities in order to establish the true financial position.
- Establish robust and consistent change control process to ensure that appropriate contract price adjustments are identified and agreed with the customer.
- Manage commercial activities with the operational team to achieve delivery and growth.
- Ensure contractual duties, obligations, notices, standards etc. are observed and discharged to protect our position and entitlement under the Contract.
- Ensure commercial activity is consistent and compliant with the IMS and all practices & procedures contained within it.
- Maintain good customer relationships and develop new relationships, within own area of responsibility.
- Support work winning teams as required.
- Support key negotiations with prospective customers, partners and subcontractors.
- Effective cash management supported by regular liaison with our Accounts department.
- Support the career development of commercial staff.
- Promote innovative ways to add value and reduce costs.
- Work in accordance with the commercial objectives within the central and divisional business priorities.
