My client is a fantastic Retail brand who holds exceptional values. They are recruiting for an Ecommerce Trading Manager on a 12 months fixed term contract. The role is offered on a hybrid basis with 2/3 days working from home. The Ecommerce Trading Manager is responsible for driving sales and profitability through effective online merchandising, pricing strategies, and digital marketing optimisation. This role ensures a seamless customer journey, maximises conversion rates, and leads a small team to execute digital growth strategies.
Role responsibilities
- Trading & Merchandising
- Develop and execute online trading strategies to maximise revenue and profitability.
- Set up and optimise products listings, categories, filters and search results to aid discoverability.
- Work with buying teams to implement pricing strategies (pricing, promotions, discounts) to drive sales.
- Manage stock availability and work with buying and supply chain teams to ensure appropriate stock utilisation.
- Digital Marketing & Promotions
- Work across the business to plan and execute seasonal campaigns, flash sales, and discount strategies.
- Collaborate with marketing teams on paid ads (PPC), SEO, and email marketing to drive quality traffic.
- Utilise A/B testing to optimize landing pages, CTAs, and product placements.
- Performance Analysis & Reporting
- Monitor KPIs (sales, conversion rate, AOV, bounce rate, ROI etc) using Google Analytics and other tools.
- Provide weekly/monthly trading reports with actionable insights across categories and channels.
- Use heatmaps, session recordings, and customer feedback to work with UI/UX teams to improve the user experience.
- Customer Experience Optimization
- Work with technical and product teams to ensure website responsiveness on all channels.
- Implement personalisation and user generated content (recommendation engines, retargeting, social proof, reviews).
- Work with UX/UI teams to enhance site navigation and product displays.
- Team Leadership
- Manage a small team.
- Delegate tasks effectively, ensuring deadlines and performance targets are met.
- Train and coach junior team members on ecommerce best practice, providing direct, honest and constructive feedback.
- Create a positive and engaged team through recognition and inspiring others to achieve.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Liaise with buying, marketing, supply chain and technical teams to align on stock, promotions, and site updates.
- Foster collaboration between marketing, design, and tech teams for seamless execution.
- Coordinate with customer service to resolve customer pain points.
Skills & Qualifications:
- 4+ years in e-commerce, online trading, or digital merchandising.
- 1+ years of team management (or project leadership) experience.
- Strong analytical skills (Google Analytics, Excel, Power BI, or similar).
- Knowledge of digital merchandising tools.
- Understanding of CRO (Conversion Rate Optimization) techniques.
