Uttlesford District Council is a small rural district council, based in the market town of Saffron Walden in North Essex, recently voted as the best place to live in the UK. We’re ideally located just off the M11 with easy access to London and Cambridge and an international airport on our doorstep. Uttlesford borders South Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire. We are seeking an experienced manager to lead the Housing Resettlement team through a period of transformation. Providing operational leadership this role will ensure the Council takes a customer-focused approach to meeting the statutory requirements of Part VI Housing Act 1996 and the provision of temporary accommodation. This is an excellent opportunity to make a significant contribution to developing effective preventative homelessness services both locally and across wider Essex. Experience of operational management, transformation and service improvement is essential for this role. Duties Include: • Taking management responsibility and oversight of the Housing Register, and social housing allocations ensuring the council complies with the Allocations Policy and all relevant legislation including Part 6 of the Housing Act 1996. • Liaising with the main social housing providers within the district in relation to the choice based lettings scheme, nominations, local letting policies, etc. • Leading the management of the council’s temporary accommodation, ensuring voids are kept to a minimum and there is access to resettlement/housing support available for households living in temporary accommodation.
