We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our clients quality assurance team as a Quality Control Technician. This trainee position is perfect for someone with an engineering apprenticeship background or similar technical experience who is looking to develop their career in quality control within a precision manufacturing environment. Full training and comprehensive support will be provided - we’re looking for the right attitude and aptitude rather than extensive prior experience.
As our Quality Control Technician, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring our products meet the highest standards of quality and compliance. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Documentation & Compliance
- Reviewing works orders, First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR), and special customer requirements
- Ensuring robust traceability and customer/AS 9100 release conformance
- Recording all work accurately on our ERP system (Match-It)
- Compiling comprehensive First Article Inspection Reports
- Quality Investigation & Problem Solving
- Investigating quality issues to identify root causes
- Raising appropriate corrective action paperwork
- Implementing effective containment measures to prevent customer escapes
- Completing practical problem-solving activities efficiently
- Product Verification & Inspection
- Ensuring component conformance both dimensionally and visually
- Using precision inspection equipment including CMM, Keyence, Vici, shadow graph projectors, micrometers, and bore micrometers
- Conducting visual and tactile inspections to identify defects such as burrs, cuts, and scratches
- Operating within our Quality Clinic framework
- Continuous Improvement
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
- Managing 5S discipline according to business requirements
- Working towards Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Supporting special projects as required
Essential Requirements:
- Engineering apprenticeship background or similar technical role experience
- Exceptional attention to detail - this is critical for success in this role
- Can-do attitude with a methodical and accurate approach to work
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Computer literacy
- Flexible approach to work
- Commitment to health, safety, and environmental policies
Desirable Skills (training will be provided):
- Experience with Ideagen Q-Pulse
- Visual FAIRNet-Inspect user experience
- CMM programming (Aberlink)
- Keyence IM6000 operation
- Vici Scanner experience
- MSA (Measurement Systems Analysis) awareness
- SPC (Statistical Process Control) awareness
