Labcorp are currently recruiting for an EHS Specialist to be based at our site in Eye, Suffolk, with travel to other UK sites as required. As part of our Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) department you will be required to partner with the business to provide technical expertise and coaching to effectively protect and promote health, manage and reduce risk, maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and applicable industry standards.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Providing technical expertise, training and guidance to ensure compliance with applicable regulation and industry standards.
- Providing EHS support and advice on projects, planned studies, facility modifications, regulation/best practice, audits and inspections and adverse events.
- Contributing to EHS policies, procedures and document creation and reviews.
- Inspecting facilities and operations for regulatory and company policy compliance.
- Identifying and assessing workplace hazards and implementing corrective measures.
- Ensuring the development, deployment and, as necessary, delivery of effective EHS training to supervisors and employees.
- Investigating and reporting upon accidents and supporting site emergency team in response to adverse events and identifying corrective actions.
- Administering, and supporting development, implementation and maintenance of EHS programs and safety roles, that may include but not limited to day-to-day monitoring of contractors, risk assessment, sustainability, facility safety, fire safety, confined space, chemical safety, respiratory protection, emergency planning and response, etc.
- Interacting with government agencies and regulators with the support of the EHS Manager.
- Preparing and submitting regulatory and internal company reports as required, including air permit and wastewater records, emission and hazardous waste reports, injury/illness and other EHS reports as applicable.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrable experience working within a laboratory environment, ideally within the CRO/pharmaceutical industry.
- Ideally, you will hold experience within health and safety, however experience with managing health and safety within the laboratory will be considered.
- Ideally, you will hold NEBOSH Certificate or similar recognised EHS related certification, however this is not essential.
- Bachelor's degree in Science or Technical Field or equivalent time spent working within a scientific role.
- Desire to learn, develop and complete additional qualifications and continual professional development.
- Knowledge of UK EHS regulations.
- Understanding of laboratory control approaches for Chemical, biological and radioactivity management.
- Familiarity with EHS hazard and risk identification, evaluation and control concepts.
- Willingness to travel up to 5%.
