We’re a leading name in lightning protection and specialist project solutions, and we\’re looking for a dynamic SHEQ Manager to lead our staying safe together culture and ensure every project meets the highest industry standards.

What Is The Role

As the SHEQ Manager, you will be part of the senior leadership team and working closely with operations to deliver the Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality Systems. This will include, but not limited to, undertaking audits and inspections, developing operating procedures, preparing reports and statistics, delivering presentations as well as providing advice and guidance to employees and subcontracts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Determines the strategic direction, analyse trends and work priorities, in conjunction with the Managing Director, for the continuous improvement of the SHEQ management programme and systems, in line with business objectives.
  • Assisting site management teams with operational safety guidance and method statements addendums
  • Review and monitor Company RAMS templates, subcontractor RAMS, access competence review temporary works
  • Create and monitor health & safety targets
  • Remain abreast of all relevant HSE laws, code of practices, standards
  • Lead the business in retaining accreditation including ISO 9001, 19443, 14001 & 45001
  • Maintain accurate SHEQ records and documentation in the Company’s integrated management system (policies, procedures, legal register, aspects & impacts register etc.)
  • Site safety, health, environmental and quality assurance audits
  • To investigate accidents, dangerous occurrences and near misses, including leading investigations and provide support on incident management
  • Monthly reporting on SHEQ to Executive and Senior Leadership Team
  • Prepare and distribute regular health and safety updates as required
  • Implement and monitor training and development programmes – apprentice program, Toolbox Talks
  • To Manage the Company training budget and approve all operational safety training
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and safety awareness
  • Act as the Sentinel Co-ordinator for rail projects and authorised signatory for BA (Heathrow etc.)
  • Lease with the local authority (Fire inspector and parking levy inspector)
  • Support with the completion of Pre-Qualification Questionnaire (PQQs) and accreditation platforms
  • Support with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) submissions
  • Investigate quality issues and address any non-conformity
  • Promote Group values and embed ‘Staying Safe Together’
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health regulations
  • Represent the Company on Group forums (Health & Safety Working Group etc.)

What You Will Need

  • Proven experience in SHEQ Management in construction, electrical systems, or specialist contracting industries.
  • In depth knowledge of UK HSE Legislation, ISO Standards (9001, 19443, 14001 & 45001), and risk management frameworks
  • Recognised qualifications such as NEBOSH General or Construction certificate
  • IOSH membership (Chartered member or working towards) and IEMA membership (desired)
  • Experience in project environments with the ability to work alongside project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure compliance without compromise to delivery
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills with attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities capable of influencing at all levels from site teams to executive members
  • IT Literate, particularly using compliance management systems and Microsoft Office
  • Practical hands-on mindset – actively engages with teams
