Southern Veterinary Partners (SVP) is a veterinarian-owned and managed network of more than 450 animal hospitals with the common goal of providing the highest quality and personalized care to pets. SVP is hiring a hyper-organized Design Project Manager to join our rapidly growing company and Real Estate Development Team in Birmingham, Alabama.

The Design Project Manager will work cross-functionally with hospital leadership, architects, contractors, internal construction manager, and other stakeholders as necessary. The Design Project Manager will be responsible for managing important project deliverables to ensure the entire team is successful in delivering on-time and on-budget delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage, produce and facilitate various aspects of preliminary design and overall design standards including initial schematic floor plans, exterior design concepts, standard materials and finishes, standard equipment and specifications, etc.
  • Coordinate details of architectural projects with outside architectural production teams including review of drawings, specs, and deliverables.
  • Work closely with the Senior Construction Manager to consistently explore new design ideas and standards, including evaluation and recommendation of design solutions.
  • Help design, draw, and manage new conceptual design ideas and innovations including renderings and graphics.
  • Assist in-house construction team with review of RFI's, submittals and other clarifications as needed.
  • Multi-project management with full responsibility for site survey coordination, schematic design, construction documents, and permitting.
  • Interact with Real Estate Development Team to resolve issues regarding design, engineering, and construction.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to discuss and resolve problems, including work procedures and construction/design issues.
  • Strong ability to negotiate with vendors and hold them accountable for delivering projects on time and on budget, and within SVP’s quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with our front-line teams.
  • Attend weekly meetings with contractor & architects to discuss status of all existing projects.
  • Ability to travel periodically.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in the architecture field, preferably with a focus on front-end design.
  • Strong design skills with proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Sketchup and the Adobe Creative suite.
  • Ability to communicate ideas graphically in a quick and efficient manner, particularly related to preliminary and schematic design levels.
  • Experience producing and marking up construction drawings.
  • Excellent graphic, verbal and written communication skills with a teamwork mentality.
  • Ability to multi-task and delegate to other team members.
  • Precise attention to detail.
