Job Purpose

The role of the HGV Technician is to:

  • Diagnose, repair, and service the range of manufacturer products in accordance with manufacturer’s work specifications.

Person Specification

  • Proof of Right to Work in the UK.

Experience & Skills

  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Smart appearance.
  • Competency in numeracy, literacy, and IT.
  • Level 1/2/3/4 certification (as required).

Key Responsibilities

  • Use diagnostic equipment and a systematic approach to diagnose and rectify vehicle faults. Meet with customers to identify and understand problems as needed.
  • Stay updated on the latest technology introduced on the vehicle range and how to diagnose and repair faults on them.
  • Carry out diagnosis, repairs, and servicing to the highest standards and specifications.
  • Observe safe working practices for yourself and others during all tasks.
  • Liaise and seek advice from colleagues and supervisors for complex issues.
  • Check the quality of work through diagnostic equipment and road-testing vehicles post-repair. Coordinate with Service Advisor.
  • Complete relevant service documentation (job sheets, PDI’s, service reports) following brand standards, warranty, and site requirements.
  • Maintain workshop housekeeping standards, including proper use of tools.
