Virax Biolabs Group Limited is an innovative biotechnology company focused on the detection of immune responses to and diagnosis of viral diseases. The company is now working on a major new initiative to launch its flagship ViraxImmuneâ„¢ profiling platform. This technology is expected to facilitate the diagnosis of chronic conditions such as post viral syndromes, Lyme disease, and ME/CFS. In parallel Virax Biolabs is rolling out ImmuneSelect, a range of products dedicated to immunology and clinical research.
We are seeking a scientist specialised in immunology to work within our R&D team, based in Biocity Glasgow. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, conducting, and interpreting experiments aimed at developing our in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) tests. This position provides a unique chance to study adaptive immunity while helping to make a significant impact on healthcare for chronic patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Actively participate in the design and optimization of assays to evaluate immune responses, using ELISpot, flow cytometry and microscopy techniques.
- Analyse and interpret experimental data, draw conclusions, and communicate findings effectively through presentations and written reports.
- Ensure lab equipment is calibrated, maintain reagent stock levels, and uphold laboratory safety practices.
What your background should look like:
- PhD in immunology or associated field.
- Capable of immediate independent laboratory work.
- Knowledge of T cell and B cell-mediated immune responses.
- Experience in one or more of the following techniques: Flow cytometry, ELISA, bioconjugation, fluorescence microscopy
- Ability to critically evaluate experimental data and troubleshoot technical challenges.
- Excellent organizational and teamwork abilities
