Location: Renfrew, Scotland, United Kingdom, PA4 8XJ

The main purpose is to operate CNC machine tools in the manufacturing department, specifically in screw compressor rotor manufacturing. This includes milling, turning, grinding, and balancing. Howden has WFL Millturns, Holroyd Grinding/Milling machines, Danobat cylindrical grinders, Schenk balancing machines, and manual lathes. All CNC machines have Siemens controls.

What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…

  • Manufacture compressor components according to engineering drawings and specifications to ensure successful first-time build and test of finished compressors.
  • Adhere to all relevant instructions contained within Work Standard Instructions (WSIs) in the manufacture of compressor components.
  • Conform to all aspects of HCO’s Quality Management System, including fulfilling all relevant procedures and Standard Practice Instructions (SPIs).
  • Deliver quality components in a timely manner while contributing to efficient manufacturing principles.
  • Accurately collate shop floor documentation and data within HCO’s Shop Floor Data Collection system (SFDC).
  • Provide training support for apprentices and colleagues to improve skills levels.
  • Support cost reduction, efficiency, delivery, and quality improvements within HBE.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety standards in line with company policy to maintain a safe working environment.

What Do You Bring …

  • Recognised engineering apprenticeship and relevant qualifications.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience in multi-disciplined CNC machining – turning, milling, and grinding, including profile grinding.
  • Previous experience in precision manufacturing.
  • Understanding of working with Siemens controls.
  • Proficiency with measuring equipment such as micrometers, ball micrometers, thread gauges, and callipers.

Our Benefits …

This is a permanent position working 37 hours per week with a starting salary of £37,500, rising to £39,000 after training. Shift allowances are available for a three-shift rotating schedule (early, back, and night shifts) with a rate of x1.33, including overtime at 1.5x.
