My Customer is seeking a highly skilled Linux Engineer with strong experience in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) to support and maintain the organisation's legacy systems. This is a critical role focused on ensuring the stability, compliance, and performance of our existing infrastructure while the business collaborates with a MSP to implement future upgrades.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and detail-oriented individual who thrives in a complex, mixed-technology environment and is committed to operational excellence. The Linux Engineer can work remote with ad hoc travel around the South West London area.

Key Responsibilities of the Linux Engineer:
  • Maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot legacy Linux (Red Hat) systems to ensure optimal uptime and compliance.
  • Support and administer MySQL and MongoDB databases on Linux platforms.
  • Provide occasional support and integration with Windows systems as needed.
  • Ensure systems meet all compliance and security requirements during the transition phase.
  • Liaise with internal teams and external MSP to provide continuity and technical insight into ongoing upgrade projects.
  • Contribute to documentation and operational procedures to support system reliability and auditing.
Key Skills & Experience required from the Linux Engineer:
  • Proven experience as a Linux Engineer or Systems Administrator with a strong focus on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
  • Solid understanding of MySQL and MongoDB administration in a Linux environment.
  • Basic to intermediate experience with Windows systems.
  • Strong networking knowledge, including DNS, DHCP, firewalls, and general network troubleshooting.
  • Experience with system compliance, patching, and hardening best practices.
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage priorities, and collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
