Job Purpose: Are you ready to make a real impact on health and safety in transportation? We are looking for a Transport Health and Safety Manager who will lead the charge in ensuring the well-being of our employees, contractors, visitors, and fleet operations. Your role involves developing safety policies, conducting risk assessments, and fostering a safety culture. You will be responsible for maintaining legal compliance and ensuring safe fleet operations as per the Operators’ Licence. Key Responsibilities:

  • Health and Safety & Compliance Management: Develop, implement, and monitor health and safety policies across the transport network, ensuring compliance with legislation and regulations. Maintain health and safety records, including incident reports, training records, and risk assessments. Conduct risk assessments and implement control measures. Lead safety workshops and meetings with Transport Managers and Compliance Officers. Monitor accident patterns and develop improvement plans. Coordinate health and safety audits and liaise with stakeholders to ensure compliance with DVSA and Operator’s Licence requirements.
  • Training and Development: Develop and deliver health and safety training programs for all employees. Lead driver training initiatives, including Driver CPC courses. Update training materials to reflect current regulations.
  • Audit and Risk Management: Conduct safety audits and inspections. Audit driver hours and vehicle maintenance practices to ensure compliance.
  • Accident and Incident Monitoring: Monitor accident patterns and work with managers to implement corrective actions. Lead accident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Leadership & Team Management: Lead the Compliance and Driver Trainer team. Ensure consistent safety standards across locations.
  • O Licence Compliance & DVSA Coverage: Manage the Operator’s Licence compliance and DVSA regulations. Maintain vehicle and driver records in accordance with commitments.
  • Emergency Preparedness & Crisis Management: Develop emergency response plans and conduct drills. Train employees for emergency situations.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • NEBOSH National Diploma or equivalent (Level 6).
  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar safety management role.
  • Experience in multi-site environments and fleet safety.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations, risk assessments, and safety audits.
  • Experience with Driver CPC and fleet management.
  • In-depth knowledge of O Licence and DVSA regulations.
