City/State Norfolk, VA Work Shift Rotating Overview: Sentara is hiring a Cardiovascular Anesthesia Technologist at Norfolk General Heart Hospital, in Norfolk, Virginia. Responsibilities: Perform laboratory and Point of Care patient sample testing, document and report test results. Maintain quality controls of lab equipment, instruments, and tools. Conduct clinical pathological tests such as blood gas analysis, electrolytes, blood clotting times, lactates, PT/INR. Perform Thromboelastographic (TEG), Platelet Map Testing, and instrument validation. Establish and monitor non-invasive monitoring equipment, including ECG, oxygen saturation (SPO2), and invasive hemodynamic pressures during cardiac and electrophysiology procedures. Assist anesthesiologists with airway management, arterial, and central catheter placements. Support intra-aortic balloon pump therapy and troubleshoot across hospital units. Collect and process intraoperative autologous blood. Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and quality controls on lab equipment. Provide training to employees and students in Cardiovascular Technology. Utilize the Gravitational platelet system. Minimum Education: Bachelor\’s Degree in Science or graduate of an accredited cardiovascular technology program. Certification/Licensure: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.
