We are seeking a skilled Technical Release Manager to join our dynamic team as part of a large-scale digital transformation program. You will play a crucial role in effectively leading and managing the release of integration solutions that connect multiple enterprise systems, applications, and data sources. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge solutions, enhancing the organisation's agility and scalability.
Due to the secure nature of the role, all applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Security Check (SC) level. This role is a hybrid working model, working 3 days a week between our office and client site both based in central Belfast.
Your future duties and responsibilities
As a Release Manager with DevOps expertise, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and efficient deployment of software products and updates. Your role will involve overseeing the environment configuration, release planning, version control, and ensuring the reliability and scalability of production systems.
Key Tasks:
- Develop and implement release management processes and procedures to ensure the timely and smooth deployment of software releases.
- Plan and coordinate release schedules, ensuring minimal disruption to production systems and maximum uptime.
- Work closely with development teams to automate deployment processes and implement continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Champion DevOps practices within the organisation, promoting collaboration between development and operations teams.
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or similar, to automate build, test, and deployment processes.
- Implement and enforce best practices for version control, code quality, and security across development teams.
- Liaise between development, QA, and operations teams, facilitating communication and collaboration throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to gather requirements, prioritise tasks, and manage expectations regarding release schedules and deployment timelines.
- Provide regular updates and reports on release status, environment health, and performance metrics to relevant stakeholders.
- Identify areas for improvement within the software development lifecycle and implement strategies to enhance efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
- Proven experience in software release management and environment configuration.
- Strong understanding of DevOps principles and practices.
- Proficiency with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, etc.
- Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g. Kubernetes) is desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Desirable:
- Experience with the AWS ecosystem and secure environments.
- Experience within the Salesforce ecosystem.
- Experience in the Copado CI/CD toolset.
- Experience with the Mulesoft Integration suite.
- Experience within the Justice sector or any UK Public Service.
