At Cavendish Nuclear we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Construction Engineer - Mechanical Piping at the Hinkley Point C new nuclear build in Bridgwater, Somerset.

This is a brilliant opportunity to work as part of the MEH Alliance on the prestigious Hinkley Point C Nuclear project. The alliance works across the project to integrate and coordinate the delivery of all main MEH, cabling and associated support services. This innovative approach will help different contractors work as a single entity to deliver the complex installation of cabling and pipework in the power station’s 2,500 rooms.

The role involves leading, managing and motivating the team through implementation of best practice, supporting continuous improvement programmes to improve process/procedures and ensuring compliance with all nuclear safety and site license requirements.

Day to day, you’ll deliver Mechanical & Piping Construction Workpacks to support the MEH Alliance programme as well as providing and demonstrating a positive HSE leadership, building a strong and compliant HS&E culture throughout the whole construction life cycle of the Project. Responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating the use of the Procon system to enhance construction activities and progress reporting for the MEH Alliance.
  • Ensuring the MEH Alliance's adherence to the Work Authorisation and Permit systems managed by NNB.
  • Coordinating safe access routes to workfaces to support the MEH Alliance's construction efforts.
  • Conducting topographical and other necessary surveys to aid the MEH Alliance's construction projects.
  • Prioritising and managing documentation to enable construction activities according to the level 4 plan, ensuring acceptance three months prior to commencement.
  • Ensuring all documents comply with the latest work information and other MEH documentation.

This is a full-time role with 37 hours per week based on the Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater, Somerset.

Essential experience:

  • Experience working on major construction projects.
  • Proven track record of working in a highly regulated sector and knowledge and experience in Safe Systems of Work.
  • Experienced in delivering and operating at Engineer or Senior Engineer level, including experience working within Joint Ventures.

Qualifications:

  • Degree qualification or equivalent vocational training and experience of installing Mechanical and Piping systems.
