Job Overview The Bristol Urological Institute wishes to offer an exciting opportunity to appoint 2 Senior Clinical Fellows in Robotic Pelvic Oncology Urology, both posts commencing October 2026 for 12 months. The post is best suited for trainees at the end of their urological training or post-CCT and wish to pursue a sub-specialty career in Robotic Pelvic Onco-Urology. There is also plenty of opportunity to participate in ongoing research in the department. The post offers experience in specialised Robotic Pelvic Onco-Urology. The successful candidates will be expected to participate in service activities in the department. It is desirable that candidates have experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices or equivalent. Overseas applicants are expected to be eligible for registration with the General Medical Council and have passed the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum overall score of 7.5. Main duties of the job The post is best suited for trainees at the end of their urological training or post-CCT and wish to pursue a sub-specialty career in Robotic Pelvic Onco-Urology. There is also plenty of opportunity to participate in ongoing research in the department. The post holder will participate in a 1:14 on call rota and will be responsible for the day-to-day management of ward patients. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the service activities in the department. Teaching The Bristol Urological Institute has an active teaching programme and Fellows and Registrars are expected to actively participate in this activity. The post holder will be available to undertake teaching sessions for medical students and junior doctors as required. In certain circumstances, you may be required to cover a colleague’s clinical duties to facilitate teaching sessions. Research A ½ day dedicated research session is provided for all fellows/SpRs. There are several ongoing research projects, and fellows are expected to participate in these projects as well as undertaking at least one audit project during their training. The Institute is a tertiary referral centre with a global reputation and is a major national and international centre for surgery, education, and research. The clinicians at BUI are at the forefront of robotic surgery for urological cancers, minimally invasive kidney stone surgery, and other advanced procedures. The BUI is a long-established research unit attracting major grants, publishing extensively, and participating in international clinical trials. It is the regional centre for testicular and penile cancer services. The BUI has 3 robotic surgical systems and is recognized as a centre of excellence by the European Association of Urology (EAU) and The Urology Foundation (TUF). Person specification Qualifications, Registration Essential criteria MBBS or equivalent Maintain appropriate registration with the GMC FRCS (Urol) or equivalent Desirable criteria MRCS Training, Experience Essential criteria Recent experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices (or equivalent) Experience as a specialist registrar or equivalent, in urology (at least 5 years) Training in diagnosis and treatment of emergency surgical conditions Desirable criteria Experience in pelvic oncology or upper tract laparoscopy/robotic surgery Further training, management, audit Essential criteria Evidence of recent CME/reasonable training progression at this stage of career Desirable criteria Experience in audit project and written up Personal requirements Essential criteria Good written communication skills Ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and staff at all levels #J-18808-Ljbffr
