This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

As part of a team supporting the Commando Force operational output, you will essentially provide the logistical support to tradesmen within the workshop by processing required part orders through the supply chain and controlling the workshop stores account, containing all specialist tooling and equipment required for the maintenance of an extensive fleet of high readiness vehicles.

As the Technical Storekeeper, you will manage all tooling and specialist test equipment used within the workshop including lifting equipment to enable the vehicle fitters to maintain high fleet availability. You will also order and supply all the required consumables and spare parts required for the maintenance of the fleet. This will require regular use of a custom online stores management system. Training will be given on this system, no prior knowledge is required. Training may require attendance at residential courses, as required additional out of hours working and detached duty (work away from home base) may be required but will recompensed in accordance with relevant MOD Policy.

An apprenticeship is a combined package of work and training. Most of the training will be ‘on-the-job’, with the remaining ‘off-the-job’ training often delivered by a training provider. This means minimal disruption and maximum impact.

Professional qualifications can be achieved through an apprenticeship and range from Level 2 (equivalent to 5 GCSEs), Level 3 (equivalent to 2 A Levels), and Levels 4 -7, which can give you a foundation degree, a full Bachelor’s degree, or a Master’s degree. Apprenticeships normally last between 12 months - 3 years, depending on the level of the apprenticeship. Anyone can undertake an Apprenticeship and everyone, regardless of age, can benefit from developing their skills in an accredited way.

Successful candidates can discuss their development options with their manager when in post.

Please be advised that the Department is conducting a review of all pay related allowances which could impact on those allowances that the post currently being advertised attracts. The post does not offer relocation expenses. External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.

Selection process details: This vacancy is using Success Profiles, and will assess your Behaviours and Experience. Candidates will be required to complete a Statement of Suitability of no more than 500 words and CV including job history. Please provide experience relevant to the role.
