We currently operate our Riverside 1 energy from waste facility in Belvedere, south-east London. Our new Riverside 2 plant is currently under construction and due to open in 2026. The combined Riverside facility will become one of the largest energy from waste operations in Europe. We are also building a brand-new Transfer Station in Barking (where waste starts its journey to be processed at Riverside), which will be the largest transfer station in the UK when it opens in 2026. You can find out more information on the Cory Apprentice Academy microsite , which includes more information about each role/location and our Apprentice Academy. 2025’s ApprenticeshipsEngineering Apprenticeship: Riverside Energy from Waste A 4-year Level 3 Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician apprenticeship, based at our Riverside Energy from Waste facilities in Belvedere, south-east London. Riverside is currently undergoing a massive period of growth, with Riverside 2 – our brand new Energy from Waste facility due to open in 2026 alongside Riverside 1, our existing Energy from Waste facility. You\’ll ultimately be aligned to our Maintenance or Operations workstreams, supporting the team in either Electrical; Mechanical; Controls & Instrumentation or Operations. Engineering Apprenticeship: London Transfer Stations A 4-year Level 3 Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician apprenticeship, initially based at Northumberland Wharf Transfer Station in Tower Hamlets, London. Through a mixture of off-the-job and on-site training, you\’ll gain an understanding of the Transfer Station and how they play an important part in the energy from waste process. You’ll ultimately be assigned to one of our transfer stations, specialising in either Mechanical or Electrical engineering and maintenance. Training Delivery Our apprenticeships are delivered by IPS, a leading apprenticeship provider based in Rochester. You’ll attend college in 4-week full-time training blocks relevant to your location and role, returning to your site between each training block. It’s a great way to become familiar with your role and, importantly, your colleagues at Cory to gain a better understanding of our business. Please note that both options deliver similar apprenticeship training, it’s the work location that is different. When you apply, you can choose one or both options. You must have (or expect to obtain) GCSE passes at grade 4 or higher in the following subjects: English Language Mathematics at least one Science subject Please note that candidates who hold a Bachelors or Masters degree cannot apply for our apprenticeships, as they are funded by HM Government and are aimed to teach new skills.
