The purpose of this role is to operate fine gold refining induction furnaces, granulation furnaces, and de-golding furnaces.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
- Ensure deposits are charged and refined into the furnace.
- Handle deposit slips for charges and hand them to Clerks.
- Take process samples and monitor the quality of molten gold and anodes.
- Maintain housekeeping and stock management, ensuring correct labelling and proper evaluation of materials.
- Collect fine gold ingots and fluxes and transport them to the fine gold floor.
- Transfer ingots from trolleys into the duty furnace using tongs.
- Conduct pre-start checks on the furnace and submit reports to the Supervisor before charging the furnace.
- Maintain accurate production logs and provide shift performance feedback.
- Achieve daily production targets and be accountable for metallic residues.
- Collaborate with Asset Care to resolve furnace maintenance issues.
- Allow the charge to melt while the furnace and crucible heat up.
- Ensure all materials and tools for refining are available before starting the process.
- Secure chlorine hoses to graphite tubes and record activities on the log sheet.
- Complete the log sheet during and at the end of the refining process.
- Participate in daily toolbox meetings and monthly safety meetings for the section.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations and proactively address safety concerns.
