The PantherDining at Georgia State University is seeking to hire a Cook I. The Cook I prepares and follows daily prep sheets and recipes according to Chef and FoodPro.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

This position ensures food quality and safety requirements are met in accordance with all standards. Maintains a high degree of pace and intensity for an extended period of time. This position may be required to be cross-trained for another position and/or responsibility in order to provide both backup for a department as well as to supplement resources needed during certain times of the year.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Monitors and controls product on lines.
  • Adheres to set guidelines, policies, and time schedules.
  • Prepares next shift for success (including but not limited to restocking, cleaning, fresh sanitizer, clean utensils and cooking tools).
  • Utilizes LeanPath for all discarded food waste.
  • Accurately completes production sheets and service records in accordance with food production.
  • Works stations in a clean, organized, and sanitized manner.
  • Utilized FIFO inventory practices, correct product labeling, and storage guidelines.
  • Assists in maintaining food storage areas in a clean, organized, and sanitized fashion.
  • Assist in adhering to and accurately completing food production and service records.
  • Completes station checklists, side duties, and special clean ups as assigned.
  • Participates in ongoing development and food safety training for staff.
  • Assists in the training and development of new employees.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED and 1 year experience working in institutional quality cooking. Technical training in commercial food service (CFS) or child nutrition preferred.

  • Extended standing, walking, ability to bend, stoop, reach and climb ladders.
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds.
  • Ability to work in all temperature conditions.
  • Flexible schedule to include nights and weekends.
