An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Greenhouse Operations Manager to join our Propagation operation within Gâs, one of the largest fresh food producers in the UK and Europe. Based near Ely in Cambridgeshire, Gâs Growers Nurseries Ltd is an incredibly exciting place to work at the forefront of modern food production and distribution. We work within the core of Gâs fully vertically integrated leafy production operation, making it fast paced, stimulating, and extremely rewarding for the right candidate. We are dedicated to quality and service.
As a Greenhouse Operations Manager you have full responsibility for all staff working on the operations, covering key areas of health and safety, quality, cost, operations and yield. You will be leading in the executing of weekly operations â sowing, irrigation, spraying - in line with our growing programmes.
Key responsibilities of our Greenhouse Operations Manager include:
- Day to day managing of site, production operations.
- Control stock of key raw material (growing media, seed stock).
- Liaise with suppliers and Greenhouse customers to maintain timely supply.
- With the Technical Agronomist and other stakeholders, develop and maintain trials.
- Be a key team player within the Nursery and Gâs as a whole.
- Lead and develop a professional, high performing team with a strong safety culture and pride in their work.
- Lead innovation workstreams across the business to deliver industry leading excellence.
The ideal candidate:
- Experience in fast paced greenhouse production would be ideal.
- Ability to lead and motivate.
- Excellent levels of communication at all levels.
- Self-motivated and enthusiastic regarding the challenges of a continuously changing environment.
- Ability to prioritise and organise workload agreed within deadlines.
- Business Acumen.
- Resilience development within the team and operations.
- Ability to manage change.

- Driving licence.
- Forklift driving license, PA1 â 2 and 6 (advantageous).
