If so, keep reading - this might be the perfect next step in your career! We’re on the lookout for a warm, motivated Nursery Nurse to join our brand new 0–19 Public Health Nursing Team. You’ll work under the guidance of experienced School Nurses (SCPHNs) and Registered Nurses, supporting the health and development of school-aged children across Croydon. You don’t need to be a qualified nurse, but you do need to have a genuine interest in child health, early intervention, and supporting families from all backgrounds to give their children the best start in life.

Role Overview

You’ll be working at the heart of the community—in schools, homes, family hubs, youth centres, health clinics, and more. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting health promotion activities, in various settings
  • Delivering parts of the Healthy Child Programme, including the National Child Measurement Programme and vision screening
  • Providing friendly, practical advice on healthy eating, oral health, emotional wellbeing, and continence (training provided)
  • Early identification of concerns and linking families to appropriate services
  • Being a trusted, supportive presence for families

Candidate Profile

You’ll be perfect if you:

  • Have experience working with children (schools, nurseries, community settings)
  • Hold a Level 3 childcare qualification (CACHE, BTEC, NVQ)
  • Are confident communicating with children, young people, and parents
  • Enjoy flexible work across different settings
  • Are passionate about early intervention and supporting families
  • Are organized, proactive, and a team player
