The Courses: Originally designed by Tom Fazio and opened in 2001, the Oaks Course underwent an extensive restoration in 2021 led by golf architect Tripp Davis. Enhancements included re-grassing of tees, a complete bunker renovation, fairway and green expansions, and the re-establishment of native waste areas. The course hosted a LIV Golf event in September 2022, further solidifying its standing among top-tier championship venues. Closed in 2022 for a complete redesign by acclaimed architects Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, the Pines Course is set to reopen in Spring 2025. This ambitious project has reimagined the course layout, creating a world-class playing experience rooted in strategic simplicity and natural beauty.
Position Overview: The International is seeking a skilled and motivated Golf Course Superintendent to lead the daily maintenance and agronomic operations of the Oaks Course. Reporting to the Director of Agronomy, this individual will be a key contributor to the club’s continued growth and success, ensuring championship-level playing conditions while fostering a collaborative and professional team environment. In addition to overseeing the Oaks Course, the Superintendent will assist in the final stages of development and grow-in of the new Pines Course, offering a unique opportunity to be involved in one of the most exciting course openings in recent years. This position is ideal for an experienced superintendent or a highly capable assistant ready to take the next step in their career.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Direct all aspects of turfgrass maintenance and daily operations for the Oaks Course.
- Develop and implement comprehensive agronomic plans aligned with seasonal and long-term goals.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a skilled maintenance team, including the Assistant Superintendent and seasonal staff.
- Collaborate with the Director of Agronomy and club leadership to enhance overall course conditions and the member experience.
- Oversee irrigation system operation, scheduling, troubleshooting, and repairs using Toro VP satellite control.
- Maintain compliance with all regulatory standards related to pesticide applications and environmental practices.
- Contribute to the planning and preparation for the reopening of the Pines Course.
- Operate within a set budget and assist in long-range planning for equipment and infrastructure needs.
