We’re growing fast – as Newham’s housing delivery company Populo Living Group has built just under 1,000 homes and has a pipeline of several thousand more to come. Job Summary:

We are seeking reliable and detail-oriented Income Assistant to join our office-based Housing management team. This role is essential in supporting the financial operations of the business, with a focus on accurately processing rental income, service charges, and other receivables. The successful candidate will have strong administrative skills, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to providing high-quality financial support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to the Housing services team and income officer.
  • Handle rent account enquiries and take appropriate arrears recovery action.
  • Manage tenant accounts and follow up on outstanding arrears in collaboration with the housing services team and income officer.
  • Assist with reconciling tenant accounts, identifying discrepancies, and resolving income-related queries.
  • Stay up to date with current benefits and signposting information.
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate records of all income transactions.
  • Provide administrative support, including filing, scanning, and data entry tasks.
  • Liaise with internal departments to ensure coordinated and efficient financial operations.
  • Liaise with Housing benefit and DWP for claim information.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in income recovery is preferred.
  • Strong numerical and administrative skills with high attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; familiarity with property management or accounting software is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills and a professional, customer-focused approach.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in an office environment.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with housing benefit processes or tenant income support systems.
  • Knowledge of arrears management procedures and income reconciliation practices.
  • Understanding of residential or commercial property management processes.

Working Conditions:

This role is fully office-based and requires daily on-site presence. Standard office hours apply, with occasional need to adapt to workload demands.
