Do you enjoy aseptic work? Are you a well organised and practical person? Do you set yourself high standards? Do you like taking on responsibility? We are looking for a Senior Production Technician with these qualities, and a friendly outgoing personality, to join the production team at UCH Hospitals. In return you will gain extensive experience and training in a unit which produces doses prepared under Section 10 exemption and under a Specials Manufacturing Licence. You will need to be a Registered Pharmacy Technician or Science Manufacturing Technician with post qualification experience in aseptic manufacture in hospital pharmacy.

Main duties of the job:

  • To assist and deputise for the Lead Production Technicians in the day to day delivery of the Aseptic Services from UCL Hospitals in accordance with the principles of Good Manufacturing Practice and Nationally agreed standards.
  • To assist in the aseptic training and assessment of new Technicians and Assistants and provide a high quality, safe service to our patients.
  • The role will include leading a small team in both of our units (chemo and PN/CIVAs), training a variety of staff and being a guardian of GMP.

Person specification:

Knowledge and Qualifications

Essential criteria:

  • NVQ Pharmacy services Level 3 plus an accredited underpinning knowledge (BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science, Science manufacturing technician (SMT) qualification or equivalent
  • Registered Technician with the GPhC or registered SMT

Desirable criteria:

  • Leeds University Aseptic preparation of Medicines - short course

Experience:

Essential criteria:
  • Demonstrate pharmacy Practice experience, including relevant experience in pharmacy production aseptic dispensing.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of and lead a team.

Skills and Abilities:

Essential criteria:
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly and accurately complete complex routine and non-routine documentation.
  • Demonstrated computer skills: Email, Word processing, Spreadsheet.
  • Able to demonstrate a good understanding of the context of hospital pharmacy within the NHS.

Desirable criteria:

  • Experience of managing a small project.

Communication:

Essential criteria:
  • Effectively using clear written and spoken English and overcome barriers to understanding.

Personal and People Development:

Essential criteria:
  • Portfolio demonstrating competence of previous and current pharmacy practice skills and knowledge, and CPD (Applicant to bring Portfolio to Interview).
