We are looking for an Italian speaking Financial Accountant to join our fabulous Financial Accounting Team in Starbucks EMEA, based out of Chiswick on a hybrid basis. This role will prepare monthly management and year-end financial accounts in a timely and accurate manner, in compliance with relevant legal, accounting and tax regulations. You will collaborate closely with the local Italian, EMEA & US accounting/finance teams, as well as key stakeholders in varying Starbucks business units.
What You’ll Do:
- Produce monthly management accounts (US/ITA GAAP) on Oracle and local accounting software.
- Organise monthly meetings with the relevant stakeholders based on your responsibility area to discuss the progress of all day-to-day activity, unusual transactions & projects to support accounting implications.
- Preparation of accruals and other journals resulting from the monthly meetings with the relevant stakeholders.
- Comply with US GAAP and Italian GAAP filing requirements and reporting on differences between US GAAP & Italian GAAP.
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations in line with the role and ensure their completeness in accordance with the period end timetable with appropriate supporting documentation.
- Participate as required in the preparation of the quarterly VAT & the monthly Intrastat filing; assembling data for the monthly, quarterly and annual filings.
- Accounting support to the business for your respective area along with support in reviewing contracts. Identify and highlight process/best practice improvement. Flexibility as the business evolves is a must.
- Produces month-end variance analysis and commentary on assigned P&L and BS lines.
- Manage the winding down of open manual PO’s and transfer any required information to Oracle.
- Support the annual internal and external audits.
- Production of all required statutory accounts and supporting schedules.
- Support on daily inventory transactions and reconciliations in accordance with US GAAP and ITA GAAP.
- Updates job knowledge by keeping current with financial regulations and accepted practices; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organisations.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Significant accounting experience in a large, multi-site operation.
- ACA / ACCA qualified or international equivalent, with post qualified experience.
- Exposure to both US and ITA GAAP accounting.
- Sound knowledge of retail inventory (Inventory management systems).
- Solid systems skills, preferably with Oracle experience.
- Strong double entry and bookkeeping knowledge and a good understanding of management accounting.
- Intermediate level skills in MS Office applications, with advanced level experience of using Excel.
- Proactive, inquisitive and forward-thinking nature, with high motivation to take on new challenges and tasks.
- Keen to understand and improve systems and processes.
- A positive and solution-focused attitude, with the ability to adapt and respond to the needs of the business.
