The LYPFT Safeguarding team are looking to recruit a highly motivated, experienced, registered nurse with a background in safeguarding. The post holder will undertake delegated leadership for the LYPFT safeguarding team and responsibilities to further support proactive engagement with the existing local safeguarding partners. The post holder will need to demonstrate extensive experience in safeguarding children and adults in a health care setting.

The role of the Named Nurse involves leading and overseeing safeguarding children and adults' quality assurance and improvement across the whole of LYPFT NHS trust. The safeguarding team provide expert advice to practitioners, ensuring all services meet statutory requirements around safeguarding and promote the welfare of children and adults. The successful candidate will report directly to the Head of Safeguarding.

As Named Nurse there is a responsibility to develop the long-term strategic plan for safeguarding children and adults in line with the organisations aims and values, implementing the strategy responsively, incorporating adaptations to new developments, guidance and recommendations. The post offers an exciting opportunity regarding improvement and the promotion of evidenced based safeguarding practice.

Main duties of the job:

  • Support the Head of Safeguarding and Public protection in the development and implementation of strategies, plans, policies, and procedures relevant to Safeguarding within the Trust to ensure these take account of national and local safeguarding children's partnerships /local Safeguarding Adult Boards (LSAB) guidance.
  • Support with the leadership of the PREVENT MAPPA and domestic abuse strategy.
  • Model a safeguarding culture across LYPFT and promote communication that clearly conveys that safeguarding is part of everyday clinical practice in whatever setting it takes place.
