Reach Plc is the UK's largest commercial news publisher. We're home to more than 130 trusted brands, from national titles like the Mirror, Express, Daily Record and Daily Star, to local brands like MyLondon, BelfastLive and the Manchester Evening News. Since the start of 2023, we have been building out our US operation, headquartered in New York, with teams also supporting from the UK. We've launched three standalone brands in the Mirror US, Express US and the Irish Star, covering news, sport, entertainment, politics and lifestyle - all targeted at US audiences.

This is a Home & Hub role and so will require the successful candidate to work from the Canary Wharf office 2-3 days a week. Therefore, we are looking for candidates based in or commutable to Canary Wharf, London.

Job Description

You will write and develop stories, with great pictures and engaging video. You will deliver a fast turnaround on major news stories across the US and around the world and bring in exclusive stories that set us apart from our rivals. You will ensure all copy is legally sound and meets the Mirror's standards. This position will involve weekend and shift working, so a flexible approach is required.

Qualifications

You are an experienced journalist with an NCTJ or equivalent journalism qualification and in depth knowledge of media law. You have a strong track record of delivering a wide range of engaging Showbiz and entertainment news stories at a national or major regional title while understanding what works for a digital audience. You have first rate writing and subbing skills, relish the test of working under pressure and to tight deadlines. You're social media savvy with current SEO knowledge and a bursting book of industry contacts. You're flexible, inquisitive and have a keen eye for what makes a great story.
