We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Hydraulic Engineer to join a dynamic team based in Gourock. Reporting to the Shore Support Manager, the Senior Hydraulic Engineer will lead and manage the Shore Support Ro-Ro Engineering team. The team provides mechanical, electrical control and hydraulic engineering services and expertise to support the safe and reliable operation of a fleet of Ro-Ro vessels. This team ensures that the vessels can operate safely; are available; and in full compliance with maritime regulations. The role holder will ensure all work is carried out safely, productively and with no detrimental environmental impact.
Essential
- HNC, or equivalence, qualification in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic)
- Original Equipment Manufacturer training and certification in maintenance and repair of vessel based Ro-Ro, or Cargo Handling equipment
- 10+ years experience in the maintenance and repair of either vessel installed Ro-Ro, or heavy marine cargo handling equipment
- 5+ years experience in managing a small engineering team providing field support to many customer locations, over a large geographical area.
- Working knowledge and experience of marine industry engineering standards and best practice; Classification Society Rules covering vessel installed equipment; and Flag State and International safety and operational regulations, codes and guidelines
Highly Desirable
- A diploma, or equivalent, in safety management
- Extensive industry experience of working for, or with, Ro-Ro original equipment manufacturers (OEM’s) on design, maintenance and repair of marine Ro-Ro equipment
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Leadership and management of Shore Support Ro-Ro team
- Carrying out works onboard vessels, in the Workshop and ship repair yards
- Ensure own and team compliance with all company safety and environment policies and procedures
- Ensure works are carried out in-line with Class and statutory requirements
- Ensuring the team is providing engineering services in accordance with the Fleet Management Manual and company’s wider policies and procedure
- Ensure Ro-Ro engineering work is conducted safely, efficiently and “right first time”
- Ensure Ro-Ro work requests are routed via the Works Management processes
- Ensure a consistent standard of quality of reports on works are published by team
- Any other tasks and duties required by line manager(s), where the role holder is deemed safe and competent to undertake those tasks and duties
REMUNERATION PACKAGE ON OFFERS
Salary: £72,800 per annum. Benefits (including 37 days annual leave (pro-rata), staff travel pass and an industry leading pension).
