Overview:
We are recruiting for a Housing Litigation Lawyer to join a local authority’s legal team on a locum basis. This role focuses on homelessness law, tenancy enforcement, and supporting the council’s housing service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise on and handle cases involving homelessness decisions, housing allocations, tenancy agreements, and possession proceedings.
- Represent the authority in court, including County Court advocacy.
- Draft legal documents, statements, pleadings, and reports.
- Provide training and legal updates to internal housing officers.
- Liaise with external stakeholders, including the judiciary, barristers, and housing providers.
Requirements:
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive.
- Experience in housing litigation, particularly homelessness and tenancy law.
- Strong advocacy skills and familiarity with local authority procedures.
- Ability to work from the office once a week and manage a varied caseload.
