Howdens are looking for a Group Leader to join our Warehouse team based at our site in Howden, East Yorkshire. Reporting directly to the Shift Manager, the role's purpose is to proactively coordinate and lead a team of operatives to achieve the business goals, promoting safety and a team-based culture.
You will be responsible for providing support and guidance relating to all aspects of Health & Safety issues on your respective shift, ensuring employees are always demonstrating compliance with our company policies and procedures.
What will I be doing as a Group Leader?
- Lead, motivate and develop your team, providing exceptional first-line management
- Monitor, evaluate and give feedback on the performance of team members on daily/weekly basis
- Oversee receipt, storage, picking and loading processes in line with daily targets to ensure correct operating procedures and processes are followed
- Identify and report all operational problems and suggest solutions or changes
- Develop and mentor Group Leader Stand-ins to ensure Howdens has a fully enabled, supported and multi-skilled workforce
- Plan and organise adequate resource to ensure effective operation such as daily rotas and holiday planning
- Ensuring all aspects of Health and Safety are followed across site
Shifts Pattern: Monday to Friday – Evening shift 14:00 – 22:00. Please note there is an expectation that flexibility will be required, and you may be required to support over the weekend on occasion.
What do I need to qualify for this role?
- Previous experience within a warehouse environment working with a large team
- CIEH Level 3 Health and Safety qualification (desirable)
- NVQ Level 2 in Warehousing (desirable)
- Experience using Warehouse Management Systems and Labour Management Systems
- Good problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and listening skills
