The Centre for Academic Language and Development, University of Bristol is offering an opportunity for suitably qualified and experienced EAP practitioners to teach online on its 7-week (PS6) pre-sessional course this summer. Responsibilities include a mix of asynchronous and synchronous sessions with small groups of students (maximum group size is 16).

This course includes one week of induction, comprising a three-day (Monday to Wednesday) intensive tutor induction and two orientational teaching days (Thursday and Friday) during student induction.

Course dates, including induction: Monday 30th June – Friday 15th August 2025.

All teachers will receive a competitive salary and work as part of a dynamic team at one of the country’s top universities. All teachers must be based in the UK.

This is a full-time position with a 35-hour workweek. Duties include:

  • Participation in a one-week tutor induction
  • 15 hours of contact teaching per week, divided between two student groups (mostly PG)
  • Delivery of in-house material
  • Preparation and feedback to students
  • Conducting 1-1 or small group tutorials
  • Engagement in training and meetings

Online teaching requirements include:

  • A desktop computer or laptop (Mac or PC)
  • Reliable high-speed internet
  • Ability to interact effectively online

It is recommended to have a headset with a microphone and an external screen for optimal teaching experience.

Employment Conditions: This appointment is contingent on the ability to travel to and work within the UK for the contract duration. If unable, employment will cease immediately. You must have the right to work in the UK and be authorized to undertake the duties.

Salary & Benefits: The salary for PS6 tutors this summer is £5,348.60, aligned with point 32 on the University of Bristol salary scale (£40,497 per annum pro-rata), before deductions. This includes holiday pay.

Applicants must hold a minimum of a first degree, a DELTA (or equivalent), and a Master’s in a relevant subject, with prior experience teaching on pre-sessional courses. We aim to provide a supportive environment for your professional development as an EAP practitioner. We also have TEAP assessors available for TEAP portfolio observations if interested.
