GSL Education are working in partnership with a specialist SEN school in Poole to appoint a dedicated Classroom Nursing Assistant for a full-time, permanent role starting immediately. This is a unique opportunity to bring your healthcare experience into an educational environment, supporting pupils with complex medical and learning needs to thrive both academically and personally.
About the Role
As a Classroom Nursing Assistant, you will support children and young people aged 5–19 who have a variety of needs, including profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), autism, physical disabilities, and complex medical requirements.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering day-to-day care for pupils with medical conditions, under guidance from the school nurse and healthcare team.
- Assisting with personal care, feeding, medication administration, and use of mobility aids.
- Supporting students’ participation in learning activities by ensuring their comfort and well-being.
- Collaborating with teachers and therapists to implement individual care and education plans.
- Monitoring students’ physical and emotional wellbeing and reporting any concerns appropriately.
- Ensuring the classroom is a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment for all pupils.
The successful candidate will have:
- Prior experience in a healthcare, nursing, or SEN support role is essential.
- Knowledge of complex medical needs (e.g., PEG feeding, epilepsy care, manual handling) is highly desirable.
- A calm, caring, and empathetic attitude with a strong commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.
- Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the individual needs of pupils.
- Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Qualifications in health and social care, nursing, or first aid are advantageous but not essential.
- An updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
