Oceaneering is seeking a highly experienced Lead NDT Technician to join its offshore inspection team. The individual will be responsible for executing, supervising, and coordinating NDT inspections across a wide range of testing methods, ensuring all work is compliant with regulatory, client, and company standards. This role requires a dynamic leader with rope access certification, a proven inspection background, and strong documentation and coordination skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute NDT inspections as directed by the Offshore Inspection Engineer (OIE).
  • Supervise and coordinate NDT inspection teams offshore to ensure high-quality and timely inspections.
  • Perform NDT using UT, ET, MPI, DPI, and RT techniques on static equipment and piping.
  • Act as a lead technician during campaign inspections as needed.
  • Conduct rope access inspection activities, working safely at height and in harsh environments.
  • Maintain compliance with IRATA, Oceaneering, client, and regulatory safety and inspection standards.

Reporting and Quality

  • Generate detailed reports including inspection methods, results, limitations, and sketches/isometrics.
  • Review and countersign inspection reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Monitor calibration and certification of all NDT equipment and consumables.
  • Maintain and update NDT equipment registers and inspection records.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all safety procedures and permits are in place before commencing work.
  • Lead and participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and risk assessments.
  • Report non-conformance issues or equipment failures promptly.

Team Coordination

  • Provide regular feedback to management on team performance, punctuality, safety behaviour, and competence.
  • Support and guide team members on proper NDT execution and rope access safety practices.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers and OIE for planning, reporting, and execution of inspection scopes.

Required Qualifications & Certifications

  • Valid Passport and Full UK Driving Licence
  • Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
  • Magnetic Particle Testing (MPI)
  • Dye Penetrant Inspection (DPI)
  • Offshore certifications including: Offshore Survival, Offshore Medical, M.I.S.T., Cat A EBS, Bi-Deltoid Shoulder Measurement, Eye Test, Donut & Escape Chute Training

Desired Qualifications

  • ASNT/PCN Level 2 or CSWIP in Visual Inspection (VI)
  • GCSE (or equivalent) in English, Math, and Science
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with QA/QC systems and documentation

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year experience in offshore NDT inspection
  • Minimum 5 years total NDT experience (preferred)
  • Background in structural and mechanical inspection within the oil & gas industry

Computer Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PeopleSoft
  • Ability to generate professional reports and maintain digital documentation

Supervisory Scope

While the role does not entail direct managerial responsibility, the Lead NDT Technician will be expected to supervise inspection crews, delegate tasks, and ensure high standards of work and safety compliance under the direction of the Project Manager and Offshore Inspection Engineer (OIE).
