General Maintenance Operative
Equans is recruiting for a General Maintenance Operative on the HMCTS contract based at Southwark Crown Court. This is a permanent full‑time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package.
What will you deliver?
The primary purpose of the role is to carry out both planned and reactive maintenance on a wide variety of Fabric and limited Engineering Assets, ensuring all activities are completed in a safe and timely manner. Activities will include:
- Inspect/repair floor, walls, ceilings and roofs
- Inspect /repair free standing and fitted furniture
- Inspect/clear drainage and gully systems
- Inspect/replace lamps / tubes
- Inspect/repair doors (Inc. Fire Doors), windows and associated furniture.
- Legionella duties – tap temps and flushing
- Painting, re‑decorating and hanging of pictures/signed/notices
- Plantroom inspections and AHU filter changes
- Reactive repairs and initial attendance for toilets, leaks and blockages
- Assist engineering staff in a wide range of duties as required
- Carry out reactive / Ad‑Hoc activities – being the first response on site, and where appropriate taking immediate action to make safe
- Escorting contractors

Who are we looking for?
- Would be desirable if you hold an NVQ (or similar) in either Plumbing, Carpentry or Decorating Services.
- Demonstrable experience in either carpentry, painting, plumbing or flooring in a construction, repair or maintenance environment.
- Good knowledge of Fire Door maintenance and inspection techniques.
- Understanding of Legionella control techniques e.g tap flushing.
- UK Driving Licence
- Due to the nature of the contract, you will be required to go through an enhanced security vetting process which will include a criminal records check.
