The Role The Performance Nutritionist will provide dedicated, elite-level nutrition support to the women’s teams.As an integral member of a multi-disciplinary team, the individual will collaborate to ensure that players and coaches receive the highest quality services to achieve the club’s objectives. The successful candidate will also support the department in creating a positive, competitive environment that fosters player development, teamwork, and success. Key Responsibilities Develop and deliver a nutrition education, screening and support pathway to promote female athlete health across all women’s teams. Provide individualised and specialised support to women’s first team players. Work with the men’s first team consultant and department staff to create a world class nutritional support system throughout the club. Coordinate with manager, performance staff, catering and medical team across the women’s team to implement and educate nutrition strategy. Collaborate with the MDT staff to ensure the players’ physical conditioning, nutrition, and overall well-being are supported. Maintain a comprehensive, indexed database of work conducted with athletes and coaches. Collaborate with department staff to ensure all players are safeguarded against and educated around doping control practices. Manage staff (casual / placement) to deliver nutrition programme across women’s team academy. Manage/mentor U21 nutritionist and ensure the Girls’ Academy are supported through nutrition education annually. Onboard and mentor placement students through a placement each year to enhance student nutrition development. The Person Qualifications Registration with the BDA’s Sports & Exercise Nutrition register or equivalent. Postgraduate qualification in Sports Science/Nutrition. ISAK accreditation. Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene. UKAD Clean Sport Adviser. Experience Substantial experience as a practicing registered sports and exercise nutritionist or equivalent in women’s sport. Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary performance team in the delivery of services to elite female athletes. Computer literacy essential with high level of expertise in Excel and Nutritics. Significant experience of 1:1 consultancy with female athletes. Excellent communication skills with the ability to build meaningful, strong strategic relationships with club staff and players. Experience of travel nutrition and catering logistics to support performance needs. Experience of leading a nutrition team. Knowledge & Skills Demonstrated experience of applying coaching skills and different behaviour change models to support players. Demonstrated ability to analyse a range of athletes in relation to their performance needs. To develop, implement and evaluate bespoke nutrition support. An understanding of the needs of elite athletes and coaches in a high-performance environment. Ability to develop performance nutrition menus catering for a multicultural environment. Ability to implement innovative ideas and influence athlete and coach support programmes. Ability to communicate complex data in terms that are easily understood by a wide range of audiences.
