Engineer Analyst (Linux OS) / Analyst Linux Server Engineer Location: United Kingdom (Virtual) The Opportunity Reporting to the Director, Infrastructure Products, you will be responsible for the design, provision, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure for the Linux estate. You will provide engineering design and support for multi-tenant platforms in a single domain, including hardware, software, automation, and monitoring. You will collaborate closely with application management, application development, and other IT teams to support Linux Server infrastructure (both physical and virtual). The ideal candidate must have a strong work ethic, be detail-oriented, and possess excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills. 60% – Ensure global stability, integrity, and efficient operation of systems and infrastructure supporting core organizational functions. Conduct research on new and emerging technologies for practical application to business problems and strategic initiatives. 20% – Demonstrate advanced technical skills and interpersonal competencies in your role. 20% – Provide global technical support for developing strategies, planning, coordination, scripting, and implementing releases, upgrades, or changes across our distributed computing environment. Participate in various small to medium-scale projects of varying complexities. Your Duties and Responsibilities Provide technical support for management and changes to our Linux distributed computing environment. Perform capacity planning, performance monitoring, tuning, and prediction. Support infrastructure related to Linux operating systems, following proper change management procedures. Participate in after-hours work and on-call rotations to resolve server-related issues. Assist less experienced administrators with technical guidance. You Will Have Hands-on experience supporting Suse Linux Servers; experience with RedHat, Ubuntu, or Oracle Linux is a plus. Knowledge of troubleshooting Suse boot processes. Proficiency in Bash and Perl scripting. Experience installing and supporting VMware. Experience managing IaaS and PaaS in Microsoft Azure and/or AWS. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Deep understanding of server hardware, OS, and related tools. Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills. Ability to escalate issues appropriately and meet SLA requirements. Knowledge of networking components such as TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, LAN/WAN. Ability to assess risks and restore services during outages. Ability to explain technical solutions to management. Reliable, customer-oriented, and well-organized with a good attendance record. Other Helpful Skills/Experience Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. Experience with BigFix for Apache, Nutanix HCI, and ServiceNow ITIL processes. Travel/Shift Work : The role requires 20% travel and flexible shift timings to ensure 24/7 global coverage. This is a WFH position with occasional in-office presence (~1 day/month).
