Supports executive leadership and Vice Presidents on the Data Governance Council to drive the data governance program across the enterprise. Helps lead and coordinate major initiatives supporting Sentara's strategic goals and enterprise data services. Provides guidance on developing data governance domains, establishing data stewardship roles, metadata management, business glossaries, and critical data elements. Coordinates with teams including cybersecurity, privacy, and compliance to promote data security, transparency, and accountability. Plays a key role in developing and administering enterprise-level data governance functions.

Responsibilities:
- Creating and maintaining documents such as data mappings, data dictionaries, glossaries, stewardship, critical data elements, and data lineages, and supporting their implementation in a data governance platform.
- Developing and implementing documentation including policies, manuals, standards, and process flows to support data governance.
- Spearheading proof of concepts for new data governance features and strategizing their enterprise-wide rollout.
- Collaborating with subject matter experts to create data domains, products, identify data stewards, glossary terms, and governance artifacts.
- Working with the business to update and validate descriptions for data sources, tables, and columns.
- Developing reports to monitor metadata health extracted from governance platforms.
- Managing operational support for collections, scans, and access management.
- Leading data stewardship practice rollout, including content creation and training.
- Supporting policy management in coordination with compliance, privacy, and security teams.
- Ensuring activities align with data governance policies and procedures.
- Supporting governance council and committee discussions.
- Leading SharePoint releases related to data governance.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer and Information Science or Health Information Management (Required)
- Master's Degree in the same fields (Preferred)
- 2+ years of experience in lieu of a master's degree may be considered.
Experience:
- Minimum 5+ years healthcare experience.
- Minimum 5+ years database experience.
- Minimum 5+ years working with data governance platforms like Purview, Collibra, Alation.
- Minimum 5+ years extensive experience with SQL Server, Databricks, Azure Synapse.
- 5+ years in a business analysis, project management, or training role.
- 3+ years experience with Service Management and Agile tools.
- Data quality experience (a plus).
We offer competitive compensation packages, including base pay, incentives, and benefits. The pay range is $43.95/hr - $73.26/hr, with additional incentives possible.
