Summary Role: IT Professional Location: Near Watford, Greater London. Terms: Full Time, on-site. Remuneration: £90,000 – £110,000, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays. Clearance: You will be a UK citizen and hold, or be able to attain Developed Vetting. Overview We provide an information archival and exploitation service in the Defence sector. We are a small team of experts who specialise in data recovery, data processing, research and analysis. We are looking to grow the team; with our current vacancy suiting an experienced IT Professional. The role will require you to split your time over two areas: System administration Various operating platforms including Linux, Windows, CEPH and network equipment. In-house software built with Java and .Net. Backup system, SEIM, device control, anti-virus, software updates and delivery. Support documentation writing to keep systems well managed and supported by policy, procedures, processes and practices. Data recovery and transformation Conduct project work to recover data from legacy systems. Design ad-hoc systems in hardware and software to aid with information transformation. Write and implement tools using scripts and program languages to assist with the extraction of information from structured databases (e.g. EDRMS, SharePoint) to transform into other formats. Maintain an auditable record of data processing tasks. Contribute towards projects in a diligent, pro-active and innovative manner. Comply with HMG security policy. Essential Skills Leadership. Able to work autonomously with minimal supervision. Have a high attention to detail and standard of work. Be willing and able to learn new hardware and software systems quickly. Have an understanding of Defence policy guidance related to information, digital and data activities. Desirable Skills Computer hardware, including: desktops & servers, network equipment, storage media and SAN/NAS technology. Virtualisation technologies, LibVirt/KVM. Automation: Ansible. Operating systems, including: Microsoft Windows, enterprise Linux distributions like RedHat and variants and other UNIX-like systems such as FreeBSD, Solaris and HP-UX. Software, for example: Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, MariaDB, Free IPA, Docker/ Podman CEPH, Gluster FS, Apache HTTPd, Samba, Wildfly.
