To support the finance team by ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, maintaining organised records and assisting with routine accounting tasks. Playing a vital role in maintaining the integrity of financial data and contributing to the smooth operation of the organisation's financial processes.
Outcomes
- Timely and Accurate Month-End Processing: Completes key aspects of the month-end close process, including posting accruals and prepayments, ensuring financial results reflect a true and fair view. Produces and reviews monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring all accounts are fully supported, accurate and ready for internal review or audit. Supports the preparation of board pack slides by providing accurate, up-to-date financial metrics and variance analysis, enabling informed decision-making. Ensures all financial data is accurate, current, and maintained in accounting systems, supporting internal and external reporting requirements.
- Ownership of Purchase Order Approvals: Manages the end-to-end PO process, including approval workflows and accurate coding of expenditure back to the correct budget and forecast lines. Works closely with budget holders to ensure financial transactions are correctly coded, challenging inconsistencies to support accurate forecasting and financial control.
- Sales Ledger Accuracy & Credit Control Support: Maintains an accurate sales ledger by supporting the Credit Controller in the collection of outstanding debts, running aged debt reports, and following up on overdue accounts. Ensures all financial data is accurate, current, and maintained in accounting systems, supporting internal and external reporting requirements. Assists wider GTI team with client set up forms, and providing financial information for tender submissions.

Work Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong Excel Skills.
- Practical knowledge of month-end processes including accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations.
- Experience working in a finance or accounts team, ideally in a similar assistant or junior accounting role.
- AAT qualified or working towards (or equivalent accounting experience).
- Previous use of Xero accounting software is beneficial but not essential.

- Permanent role - 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9.30am - 2.30pm.
- 3-month probationary period.
