Wetherby Preparatory School, an esteemed all-boys school located in the heart of Marylebone, is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Peripatetic Woodwind Teacher to deliver high-quality one-to-one instrumental lessons to boys across a range of skill levels. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in nurturing a love of music, supporting boys in their preparation for performances, recitals, and music board examinations, and contributing to the vibrant musical life of the school.
We are looking for a passionate musician and educator who can inspire our boys to achieve their potential, both as individual musicians and as performers. The candidate should also be willing to attend school concerts and events to support their pupils where possible. We are recruiting immediately for this role!
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:- Deliver high-quality one-to-one lessons on at least two woodwind instruments to boys aged 7 to 13, tailoring lessons to individual needs and abilities.
- Prepare students for performances, recitals, and graded music exams, including ABRSM and Trinity board exams.
- Provide regular feedback to both students and parents regarding progress and areas for improvement.
- Work collaboratively with the Director of Music to identify performance opportunities for pupils within the school calendar.
- Support students during school concerts and recitals, attending these events to encourage and celebrate their achievements where possible.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and exam results.
- Promote a positive and inspiring learning environment, fostering a love of music and performance.
- Encourage participation in school ensembles and orchestras where appropriate.
- A high level of proficiency of at least two woodwind instruments.
- Previous experience teaching woodwind to children in a school or educational environment.
- Knowledge of ABRSM or Trinity music examination syllabuses.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate young learners.
- A commitment to supporting students in their musical growth and development.
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage lesson schedules effectively.
- Previous experience working in a Preparatory school environment.
- Familiarity with ensemble playing and an interest in encouraging pupils to take part in group music-making.
- The ability to teach music theory.
