Are you passionate about supporting young people in their personal and academic development? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mentor and Tutor to work with two Key Stage 3 students in the Portsmouth area for between 21-25 hours per week.

As a Mentor/Tutor, you will:

  • Drive the young person from home and school and undertake mentoring activities in the community.
  • Understand the needs, interests and goals of the young person that you are mentoring, to plan engaging tasks/activities.
  • Assist the young person in your care to develop their confidence.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback and support to help them achieve their full potential.
  • Record student progress and report on this weekly.
  • Be understanding, empathetic and patient.
  • Record attendance.
  • Be organised, dependable and creative.

Essential & Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience working with learners with Special Educational Needs (SEN)/SEMH needs is essential.

  • Organisational skills, patience, empathy.

To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:

  • Hold right to work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide references upon request
  • Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
